My nanny has a credit card I supply. We pay for EVERYTHING they do together. If they eat lunch out, go to a movie, go ice skating, go to the store to buy ingredients to make cookies, go tonthe Baltimore aquarium, or anything it goes on the credit card.

I expect my nanny to be very active with our children and she is on the clock, so I pay.

OP here - I asked our nanny and she absolutely refused reimbursement of any kind. She said is was her idea, her treat and her pleasure. She said that as long as it was okay with me that she wanted to make these special trips for treats with DC. I said fine - and I thanked her. Very kind and generous of her.

Thanks all for your responses. I should have just asked our nanny in the first place instead of posting the question here.

You have to give to your nanny some$$$$$$$$$$$bucks.

I may be in the minority, but I would prefer my nanny not buy my child something to eat. If she wants to bring a light snack to feed dc while they are at a cafe, that is great. I have found that when dc eats a muffin or something equally substantial, she will not be hungry for her lunch.

My employers always leave a cash envelope with $20. to pay for our food out.

It's much cheaper than etiquette school down the road. My charges have impeccable manners, at least with me.
