I guess OP didn't have any other options.

OP, it sounds like minimum wage is the way to go, since wages are so low in your area and you very definitely have a share situation and should not paying high market rate for a nanny who brings her child to work.

So say I didn't want to style it as a nanny share, but wanted more input. How much would I pay? Again, she is a SAHM looking for extra money so sshe doesn't have established rates. She has asked for $6-8, with all but the top being illegal. $8 seems low, but maybe not since she's bringing a child?

I would suggest you offer her at least $18/hr. You have to consider she has a child to support. If she was young and single I would suggest $12/hr.

Seriously? You're NUTS. Who decides salary based on how much someone needs?

People who care about social justice.

Social justice is about equal opportunity, not equal results.

Social INjustice is when you do valuable FT hard work,
and you can't afford to support yourself.

That's insane. You can get your very own nanny, sans child, in Washington, DC, for $18/hr.

$8-$10 seems fine for your situation OP. Start at $8/hour, which is the high end of what she asked for, and leave room for raises. Good luck!

I'm a nanny and that's insane. OP, what is your area? For a low COL area, $10-12/hr is great.

It's not a share though, it's just one family and a nanny who brings her child.
