That doesn't sound cost effective. Why not just provide a stipend for a mass transit pass?

OP is just a really dumb troll. If this was real any nanny would rather have a 66k salary and just deal with their own parking rather than 40k and a stupid spot.

You didn't read my post correctly. I said majority of Chicagoans who LIVE in the CITY are either in the Loop, River North, Old Town, Lakeshore East, etc. Of course many wealthy Chicagoans ( and non-Chicagoans) live in the suburbs ( mostly the North Shore), where parking space is plenty. We are talking about in the city, not the suburbs. Therefore parking is hard to obtain unless you pay a high price.

I'm born and raised in the city. I know what I'm talking about.

The money has declined because we will be paying healthcare and parking spot. It will be $16-18 net pay. My husband prefers we not go too high initially.

Well I don't know the market in Chicago, but sounds like a good deal to me. Its definitely a job I consider.

If the nanny opts not to drive, would you
add the money to her compensation package?

OP, if you are still there, this is an extremely good package. Anyone who tells you otherwise on this board is a nanny trying to drive up the market. You could offer health insurance, but then you do not have to pay $23/hr.

Let me explain Chicago and you will understand a little better. Most affluent Chicagoans live in the loop area ( west, south, central), river north, streeterville, and some in Lakeview and Lincoln Park. Most of these areas consist of high-rise condos and townhomes. The loop area and heading downtown, street parking is expensive and a nightmare. You are better off walking or taking a cab. You have to pay up to $30,000/year for one parking spot. Lincoln park and Lakeview is more family oriented but there is a large pool or young people ( 20's - 30's) that come for all the bars. We haw garages but usually only one designated parking spot. You have to pay for a parking spot ( if you can find one) or park in a parking garage for the day.

We live in a townhouse in the West Loop. We have one parking space but will have to pay $26,000/year for a nannys parking spot on the street. My husband and I do make a great living but we are still cost concentious.

Most homes that have ample garage space will be in the suburbs or neighborhoods away from downtown. So when we offer " free parking spot" it means we will be buying our nanny a parking space if she prefers to drive.
