Sorry, I have been traveling and just saw this.

British American, Pavillion, Celebrity Staffing, The Help Company and The Nanny League all have offices and/or a presence in NY and lots of jobs in the tri state area. American Nanny Company is in Boston. Westside Nannies, Mahler and Feigon Hamilton all get jobs on the East Coast. Almost all of the agencies I listed get both live in and live out jobs.

BS. I am a lawyer ( MB) as well as several friends. We get paid by time billed, not hourly. Even first year lawyers charge minimum of $250/hr.


Um, I call bs on you. Unless you are a solo, your billable rate is paid to the firm, not you. You get paid a fraction of that, because overhead and partner profits must come out of it.

Well brace yourself. You will find it very hard to find a job in child education that pays more than being a nanny and you will need a degree/certifications. Preschool and daycare salaries are far worse and the work is much harder. Any entry level job even in professional fields pays pretty low and the competition is high. These jobs are so rigid. There is no running your own errands, extra paid days off when your employer decides to take the day off, lunch provided, or hanging out at the park with fellow nannies.


Well I'm not accustomed to doing as I please all day as a nanny so structure isn't an issue or me. I also do not run my own errands on my employers's time. I provide my own lunch, and coworkers in other fields socialize too.

I could go work in a preschool as I am qualified to do so , and make more than what is currently being offered. Yes nannies can be educated. I prefer the dynamic that exists in my role as a nanny, but I have nothing against teaching I expect to make a living wage and be compensated fairly for my background and experience. $12/ per hour may work or some , but it does not work for me.

It's simply false that all entry level job pay is less than a living wage.
