As a nanny I find this beyond creepy. As a parent I would be down right disturbed. I have never pretended to be the mother to the 11 month old I watch in classes we go to in yoga, music, and Gymboree I alway make it clear I love the child but I am the nanny. The only time I let it slide is if we are on a walk or on the metro and someone says he is cute or beautiful. Then I will just say thank you and keep on my way. I would never pretend that he was mine, make up stories about giving birth to him and our family, and pretend to be married to the dad. That is beyond crossing the line and she most likely has serious mental issues. It doesn't matter if a friend introduced you to your nanny or if she is older or younger then you, she is clearly unbalanced.

I don't think fluently means what you think it does...

On the first day of library story time, I told them I was the nanny and signed my charge up. About six months later, I returned after a short vacation. Librarian says, "I saw your kids here with the babysitter last week." I had to remind her it is actually the other way around.
