Mother of 3 here. If she's not "On Call," then she is under no obligation to answer your calls. Her personal time is not your husband's to dictate. If she had been working, I could understand the concern, but she wasn't. It's fairly absurd for him to be upset.

If she is a good employee and good to your children it would be best to show her the respect she deserves-- That includes respecting her space and off-time. Confronting her will do nothing but confuse and offend her. It's the recipe for disaster.

To follow on from my precious reply above, the title of your post 'My nanny declined my call' sounds so completely ridiculous. These are the kind of silly things I hear children talking about. You both sound like whiny babies. As a nanny I would very clearly tell you not to call me out of hours because I have a life that doesn't involve you. You both need to get over yourselves and your nanny needs to leave, because if you can whine about such stupidity then your household must be an utter drag to work in. You are too demanding in the most ridiculous and laughable way. You both need to get a grip and grow up and stop being so pathetic. Respect your nanny in all things whether she is working or not.
