I don't believe you hire nannies who can't figure out OT.

Pay rate is $20/hr.
Time and a half is:

$20.
+$10.
_______
$30./hr

Did you hire someone who doesn't get that?

Your "blended" rates, your "average" rates, and whatever other creative financing terminology you can whip up, is nothing but an effort to fool the nanny into thinking you're paying more than you are.

Please stop that garbage.

Nannies,

Do NOT allow unscrupulous parents to try to cheat you with "blended" or "averaged" pay rates. Tell them to stick to regular overtime laws if they need more than 40 hours a week.

It's the law!

Does it really matter to me if the nanny next door decided to work for less than me? It doesn't change my pay rate. I don't agree to work without being paid overtime. I've interviewed with families who made offers like that. I declined the position and moved on. Advocate for yourself and learn to negotiate. Crying abuse on a message board isn't going to fix the problem.
AHH you sound very confused what to say I'm just saying !

Yeah, we know, but those poor parents...? They just want a cheap sitter.

So why the outrage? Dumb nanny cheap parents. Her alternative is being a fry maker. Seems a win/win to me.

What about the poor child?

If she was a real nanny, she'd be smart enough to bake the power sweet potatoes, not frying anything.
