+1. Although I have nothing to compare her with since she has been with us for five years and is the only nanny we have ever had (or hope to ever have). But I knew during hiring that I wanted a mature nanny. Nanny is sharper than me, with Terrific energy and can easily keep up with two and soon to be three kids at 63.

Old post, but I love knowing there ARE some appreciative parents out there. Most of us dedicated nannies work hard to do our best with your children.


Good employers know you do work hard and have our kids best interest at heart.

My DD has had an older nanny since she was born and nanny has more energy and stamina than I do. I have depended on her experience and education to teach me as well as DD. We are expecting a new baby in March and nanny is ready to care for the new baby too.

There's nothing like experience, not to mention the pleasure in seeing your former charges become ethical doctors, lawyers, and other professionals, and ultimately parents themselves.

What more would I, or anyone else, want?
Proven success is what can easily double or triple your hourly rates. Easily. Fewer parents can afford that, but hey, one at a time is plenty for me.

Sorry, crazy girl - I am not a troll. I will simply not sit back and watch jealous, troubled girls trash our nanny because of her age. You have made the case for anyone reading that if you are an example of a young nanny - mothers will run to an older nanny. You're right. I couldn't possibly have a schedule different than the usual 9-5, and therefore not actually be at work right now. Is this the "wisdom" I have to look forward to? Because us young people call that dementia.


+1 I agree. I'd personally rather have a young adult who is educated, motivated and nurturing than a 60+ nanny who's over the hill and starting to slow down.
