The only one on this thread equating a bi-lingual nanny with cheap labor is you. A friend of mine works in that area
a) they might think you're the MB, so they ignore you.
b) they pretend to not know English so they don't have to talk to you (partially because of point a)
c) they genuinely don't speak English.
It's actually funny. My friend speaks some Spanish, and she's heard the nannies talking about her, discussing whether she's a mom or a nanny behind her back.

Well, yes, when you imply that a child will need speech therapy because their nanny is a non-native English speaker (which on these boards usually means Hispanic/Latina) you make it about race. Are you being purposefully inflammatory or just willfully ignorant?
Or are you just pissed that someone countered your lame argument with actual facts?
OP is pissed, but she better not take it out on her family today. That would not be very nice on Thanksgiving Day.

Kind of off topic but I've read that up til about 1960 it was considered classy for a White Southern woman to speak with a slightly "Black" accent - it showed she had been raised by a "mammy" and her own mother had kept a proper distance.

I'm not sure why parents put their children in the hands of barely-educated immigrants, leaving aside the money issue, perhaps though people convince themselves that these women possess maternal warmth? I suspect immigrant women work for less. Also, it is not considered an impressive career for a college-educated girl nor does it offer many opportunities for a single woman to meet men.
