That comment is ridiculous. It doesn't matter. These parent don't have it and its their choice on whether they'd like to risk exposing thief children to it. Their concern about hiring this nanny is valid and its thief job as parents to look out for thier child's best interest.

I'd pass on her. Oral herpes is too contagious and could be spread to your child's mouth or genitals.

oral herpes is NOT an sti!! It's the same virus that causes chicken pox. Every single person whose has chicken pox has the virus that can allow them to get cold sores. Some people get outbreaks and some don't. It has nothing to do with hygiene, it's just how your body responds to the virus.

This isn't a big thing at all. It's most contagious at the very start. As long as the person has good personal care and doesn't touch their lips to your kids (anywhere), there is NO cause for concern!
I have HSV I and II. My son has never ever had an outbreak.
I take precautions if I feel a flare up beginning.
I don't think you're right for turning her away.
