I absolutely would. I'm bringing her up to live in the real world.

These are essential components to a healthy job. To any healthy job. These are basic rights you have as an employee. Here in the US, we have the lowest or among the lowest (depending on the data you're looking at) paid leave of anywhere in the world. We also have no mandated maternity - or paternity - leave. When you say things like the above, you are acting like you are not a human being deserving of anything other than 100% work. Work, moreover, in which you must suffer a loss of income for getting sick, as everyone does at some time. You are selling yourself short and you are contributing to the culture of classism that is directly fueling America's global decline. You are a person. A worthy person. You deserve paid leave from your job. No ifs, ands, or buts.
That may be so, but this is the best job I've ever had. I'm paid more than I was when I worked at a daycare center and I'm treated better as well. I had absolutely no benefits. If you can find me a job that meets those requirements than so be it. I can't, I am happy.
Well if you don't care about it then we certainly don't!.. I'm just glad my employers pay me what I deserve. Now, they truly are the best and I am very happy!
Congrats, I don't live in the DC area. It live in a low come rural area and this is 100X better than working at a daycare center. I never got benefits there either, at least I get paid $12 vs the $7.25 an hour I got at the daycare center I worked out for three years.
