I just don't agree with you. Unless you consider things like tampons, envelopes, ziploc bags, etc., to be stealing. I'm guilty of using all of those things I just mentioned and I don't believe it's stealing. Other than that, no...I have never taken anything from my job. Wtf is wrong with you? I would never gamble with my employment and the trust of my employers by stealing from them. The few times I've needed anything (Tylenol, tums, tampons) while on the clock, I'll just shoot MB a quick text asking if she'd mind if I use some of their's. And every MB I've ever had responds with "of course, feel free to use any of that stuff whenever you need. There's no need to ask".
In middle school I stole a temporary tattoo perfume sample (weird, I know-my cousin encouraged me to do it) out of a magazine in a drug store. When I got home with it, I felt way too guilty to stick the thing on my arm. I put it up on my bulletin bored as a reminder to myself how bad it made me feel. I still have it in a box of memories. I'm no saint but stealing is just icky!

Yep. Out of sight was out of mind. There were all kinds of interest charges and late fees on the bill she finally received. Also, almost half the clothes in my closet were missing. Obviously, my mom was a special case. But it didn't seem smart for the nanny either. She got a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff, but getting caught was inevitable.

Lots of people steal. So unfortunate. Hope everyone here is teaching the children the importance of honesty.

I imagine lots of nannies steal more than tp and laundry detergent. But those nannies probably don't care enough about their job to frequent a nanny message board.

Wow...some of the things you are mentioning...well...I wouldn't consider them stealing!! And I'm a MB!!

I don't think my nanny does this, but if she needed ANYTHING disposable: toilet paper, paper towels, napkins...sanitary products, ANYTHING like that...well...I hope she'd take them! She watches my kids all day, I imagine it is as tough for her to get out and buy stuff like that! And certainly I'd want her to help herself if she was in a bind.

It would be nice if she said something like, "hey, I can't get to the store tonight, do you mind if I take a roll of toilet paper?" or something to that extent...but I wouldn't consider it stealing!

I think we have even offered her stuff when we knew that she wasn't going to be able to get to the store because we were getting home late.

Now, if she walked off with a bottle of laundry detergent or a case of toilet paper, I might have an issue with it...but...really?
