This is a 5 year-old thread that a bored nanny resurrected. MB is long gone.

I am an overweight nanny and was previously obese (by the BMI standards). I am also the nanny who would take my 2 charges (in a nanny share) out twice a day weather permitting. Running after my kids, taking them to all sorts of activities have never been an issue. I like walking and would take my charges more than a mile away to the zoo and we walked all the way down to the kids farm and back again to the zoo entrance and another mile plus to home.

I say all this to state that employers need to be careful of judgements based on looks. How about you speak to former employers/references and ask pointed questions BEFORE determining that a nanny is unfit based on her size. I may weigh 60 pounds over the 'recommended' weight but I am most likely more active than many skinny nannies.

Currently I care for one year old twins and we go out and enjoy the outdoors as often as its practical to do so.

Also, the suggestion that a smaller sized nanny has healthier eating habits is laughable. From my experience, one's weight/size is often not a good representation of eating habits.

No nanny should EVER have to see her employer's skid marks or deal with the employer's dirty laundry. That's just disgusting.
