I work with behavioral, intellectual and emotional sn, including violent children. You *can’t* legally drive a child who has the ability to get to you and could cause an accident, so you absolutely dud the right thing.

If this situation comes up again for you or anyone else:
Record the behavior, audio only or video
Email a summary of the behavior to the parent(s), including any recordings
If the parent does not address, submit ALL documentation to CPS, including emails to parents, recordings, pictures of bruises on you or children, etc.

My current charge is extremely violent. I’ve had to call the police once, and we had a (short) investigation by CPS. Because I documented everything and there are cameras in the house, child’s lying did not hurt my career, and because the parent is involved and getting professional help for the child, CPS closed the case. Without the parent doing their due diligence? Who knows exactly what the result would have been, but the child would not have been with the parent.

Good for you OP. You can rest easy knowing you did your best to help the kids and whatever happens happens at this point. Hope this is a wake up call for them to get serious about helping their children.

Update.

My last day was the 23rd and I reported them that night.

I have no regrets and now it was the best. The son had said some things that were major red flags. It’s out of my hands now.

I really hope you're a troll and not someone who works with kids. This is 100% a CPS issue. Let them handle it and let OP have a clear conscience that she tried to get the kids the help they need. Totally possible grandpa isn't touching the boy, but might be watching porn when he's around or something of that nature.

I'm so sorry. What a terrible position you and the little ones are in. I'm wondering if you can keep your phone on you and charged at all times and try to document with video some of his behavior? If he knows your phone is always on you, he might not notice you filming him--turn the video on and just hold the phone sideways in your hand so it's not obvious. I'd document the crap out of it, including conversations with the parents--they'd be in writing from here on out.

I’ll bet the grandfather is doing something. That is really extreme behavior on the part of the boy. Please report.
