She has to earn at least minimum wage for every hour (awake, asleep or kids in school) that she’s responsible for the kids. So minimum wage for every hour you’re gone.

This is far easier than trying to compute what waking hours vs sleeping hours vs school hours. What’s the minimum wage in your state and how many hours will she be in charge? That’s the least you can pay her.
