Any decent nanny in this area earns a minimum of $25/hr. for one child.

Millions of us do.

We must live in different universes.

Not in the DMV and that's where people should be living if posting here. I don't get why you'd post here asking for advice if you lived elsewhere. This is a HCOL area and you cannot live off of $20/hr, much less $10.

OP doesn't live in the DMV and is trying to figure out what she's doing wrong.

OP, I'd bet anything that the issue is simply that it's not considered a genuine career in your area.

Depends on where you live

https://www.dol.gov/general/topic/wages/minimumwage
Federal minimum wage is $7.25/hour.

https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/mw-consolidated
Several states either don't have a minimum wage, theirs is lower than federal (so employers must abide by federal), or their legislation defers to federal minimum wage.

Stating that everyone around the country makes the same amount is out of touch.

Sure, but I made 10$/hour as a teenage babysitter in 1992. 10$/hr is not a competitive wage for 80% of babysitters in the country let alone a nanny

And you working from home. Thats why.

But if the Nancy's asking $10 and OP offers $20 it's full time pay for a part time job.
