When i had au pairs (last one 4 years ago) I was making $75K and I am single. One bathroom 1000 sq ft house. DC 'burbs.

People are weird and uninformed.

We had an au pair in a 2BR apartment + den. Also we live in an exurb now and LOTS of MC families have au pairs because an extra bedroom is not such a huge luxury here.

Incredibly sexist, but typical DCUM.

Indeed, it is incredibly sexist to suggest that agencies or the families of au pairs might not want their teenager/young adult living with an older, single man by herself. I mean, honestly, it's not like men have a track record sexually harassing or raping teens/young women....

^^^ my point exactly, sexist AF as not all men, not even a large percentage of men, do that. But let’s just paint all of them with that brush.

Yup - that is the real sexism issue of day - men (indeed a large percentage) do perpetuate rape and abuse much more than women - FFS. Ignorant AF.

You're a misandrist. Just admit it because we all know it.

Sorry, incel. Mommy needs her basement back.

Oh, look, privileged white lady learned a new word!

Oh, look classist and racist dude thinks WOC and MC can’t have au pairs.

Middle class don't earn enough for an AP, just in fees and expenses alone. Middle class make $60-140K, max. And, that doesn't include needed an extra bedroom and bathroom for them.

Um, there is a family in our cluster where the dad is a copy - the parents and the kids squeeze into one bedroom and the AP gets the second one. Check your privilege.

Nothing in any of those posts says that, but you keep ignoring your privilege.

The issue is being accused even if nothing happened. Once accused, even not true, it says for ever.
