They are PAYING you to do the job, you aren't doing it for free. If you don't feel you are being compensated fairly, don't take the job.
And expecting to be paid 4-6 months salary as a bonus when the nanny is choosing to leave is delusional. I think 2 weeks is generous--she is choosing to leave for another opportunity and not being asked to leave.

Ungrateful because they aren't gifting her $5k for quitting?
The nannies here just keep getting more and more unhinged.

She really is incredible and is even help train our new au pair this week. My question is what is appropriate to provide as a departing gift. We are having our son gift her a really nice necklace symbolizing nanny love and we were thinking a gift card to Figs for nice scrubs. Is this enough? IS a cash bonus expected? We love her so much and I don't want to misstep here.
She has been with you 4.5 years, is helping train the au pair and, supposedly you love her. Of course, you give her a cash bonus. I would give give a six month bonus but if you can't afford this, at least 4 month cash bonus.

Standard is one week per year worked.
No it isn't. This is something talked about on this board, but I do not know a single nanny who received that (including myself).
I have, all of my contacts with decent contracts and normal nf (nationally) have. This is standard.
