You’re paying $25/hour, the difference you’re talking about is like $50 if you’re talking 4 hours and you want to start off your brand new relationship with your nanny by possibly having her feel aggrieved? It doesn’t matter if it would be justifiable to pay her 50%, it would be a totally stupid move on your part. You might alienate the person who will watch your kids when you’re not there on day 1 for $50 or 2 hours of pay? Why? What are you thinking?

What’s a dud nanny?

Someone who won’t interact with the child beyond the minimum. Someone who doesn’t do much of anything. The current nanny can see how the new starts and tell OP if there are any red flags.

Definitely full rate. Can you imagine going to training for your job and them paying you half?

Pay her. I accepted a newborn care specialist job and went in to shadow their previous ncs. The balked at paying me... I didn't have the energy to fight even though I could have. I declined their offer and then they had to start their search over from scratch. To me it was a red flag.
