Tell them you do not answer their phone calld , read texts, or emails while off duty. Otherwise, you will need to be paid at OT rates in 15 minutes increments.

I almost always comply and go run the errand. Usually it doesn’t bother me, however I’m getting tired of it. I haven’t had a raise since I started this job and I’m working today the day after thanksgiving even though in the interview I was told I would have it off. I feel like I go above and beyond, I’m practically at there beck and call and now I’m wondering if it’s even appreciated.

The next time they ask me to run am errand on the weekend do I just say no ? I try to be a good employee but it seems to be getting me know where.

Tell them it it OVERTIME in advance. I guarantee they will
stop.

I’m a nanny who does things for my charges on weekends (grocery shopping for charge, food preparation, art projects, ordering supplies, and sometimes charges’ laundry) just because it makes my week easier. My employers would never ask nor would I ever accept them asking. Getting stuff done on weekends gives me much needed downtime when they’re napping.
