And yes, I’m calling the child a BRAT because that behavior is atrocious.

After the child hit you, her mom told you to give the BRAT ice cream? Yeah no. Goodbye. I’ve been a nanny for 20 years and I’ve never been hit. This parent is beyond repair. No way would I work for parents like this. Adios and goodbye.

I am horrified to say my 5-year old also smacked our new nanny on the arm. I hate to make excuses but he really struggles with change and has been having some self control issues of late.

I will say that my child was seriously punished (loss of privileges and more consequences) and we immediately worked with the nanny to find solutions to stop him from reaching that level of frustration.

So it does happen (it shouldn't) but if the parents aren't on board to help you it will never get better!

A mature 11yo, with a vide check in from a parent 2-4 times per day? Sure. Especially if you can check online during your lunch to verify that schoolwork is getting done.

Personally, I think it’s bizarre to pick out the 11yo, since the younger kids are 5yo and 8yo, and nobody will debate whether they need supervision. If the nanny is there ALL children will listen to and respect the nanny, and nanny will be in charge of all children, regardless of age. Idc if the problem is coming from a 7yo or 17yo, I will solve it (which may mean asking a teen to go to their room and stop yelling at an annoying younger sibling).

And with dl? I got numerous requests from parents of Ms/hs students, because the kids aren’t organized, aren’t mature enough or don’t have (any) enough common sense to stay home alone all day. That’s disregarding the students who need help with the curriculum...

The problem is the parent! Run !!
