Always immigrant nanny hate on this board. You realize immigrant nannies are actually professional nannies right? And most of the time, they are better. They speak a different language regularly with the child and share their life experiences.

I would charge more just because you will be at home as this disrupts nanny's work with older kids and makes it a thousand times harder. Also, you know perfectly well that you asked the nanny to do things for the new baby long before you went back to work. Start the extra pay as soon as you get home and spell out EXPLICITLY what she will do for new baby.

Dude, sometimes I speak like the California valley girl that I am but I still manage to make my way just fine in Big Law. Not PP, by the way.

$10/ hr. For additional child. Babies are a lot of work.

LOL not unless her nanny makes $13 currently. You can get good nannies for two kids for $20 - 25/hr.

I have prefer 1 year plus, and I refuse to work with ftp. I will agree to stay with a family if I’m allowed to do things with the kids outside of the house. No six month quarantine to “protect” newborns. There’s no reason we can’t go to the park and keep up a similar, modified schedule.

Not if she took the job for only one child.

Then the nanny has six months to find a new position. I still don’t get OP’s high drama.

She can find a new job in a week. I would ask what she planned to pay after baby is born and it would have to be at least $10 more an hour. Twice the work.

Nannies on this board: never not completely insane.

I legit laughed when I saw $10 increase per hour.

It’s really funny to me because I work in biglaw so like every mom I know has a nanny, and we trade notes. You’d think this board and my lived experiences in DC were two different countries. Or maybe planets.

If you work in big law then you can afford to.pay $10/hour more for additional child.

New baby? $5 raise. That's a whole new job. If not, walk away and find another family who respects how hard you work. I'm gonna bet neither mom nor dad wants to stay home and raise their own children.

Anonymous wrote:I think it is better that when you tell her you are prepared to answer questions as well as to provide information.

Have you and DH talked about a raise?
What maternity leave will look like?
Will older child be doing any part time preschools?

This. depends on how much you want nanny to stay and her personality. If she’s anxious type with 1000 questions about all the what ifs make sure you have answers ready on pay, benefits, maternity leave, daily schedule, preschool for first child and anything else she will want to know. In any case tell her before you start showing.
