My understanding is that APIA is trying to keep the limited number of rematch and special extension au pairs for their current families who might otherwise end up with a gap of childcare because overseas au pairs are taking much longer than usual to get here. The lack of Brazilian travel has got to hurt.

APIA is being quite difficult. They won’t let new families access database to rematch or 6 month extension au pairs. Cultural Care is trying to help everyone (families and au pairs) have more options.

APIA isn't treating these au pairs as rematch au pairs. Instead they are special 6-month extension au pairs.

Tell them your can't pay their fees for the next 6 months since you didn't budget for it, I am sure they will find a solution

I'm the OP. We do have to extend or send AP into "rematch". She cannot get home at all. South Africa is not even doing repatriation flights. She is stuck in the US and if she does not extend as an au pair, she will be in visa violation.

i get it, but you can still tell them you won pay the fees unless they give you a discount, at this point you are doing them a favor. So you pay your AP stipend and everything else but not full agency fees.

Wait what?! They can’t force you to extend...
