Thank you all for your responses, I feel much better
I realized it will be 7 weeks of lost pay by the end of April, that’s a lot of money
I usually don’t leave families hanging like that, but they’re wealthy, still working from home, and not even offering to give me weekly money to pay food, I think that’s disgusting
And still waiting for me to be there in a few weeks
And what I’d it guess on for more weeks or will repeat in the fall? I can’t keep sitting at home with no pay
Thank you all! Really makes me feel better about my decision to burn them!
Stay safe everyone!

Both still work from home, so I’m a little disappointed they wouldn’t pay me any kind of money to support me
I mean it will be weeks without pay, and that money could pay for my rent and food for months
Unemployment money is not an option for me (don’t ask)
So I’m not sure how to handle it
They want me back whenever this is over, but I’m not making any money for at least 6-8 weeks
I don't need to ssk because you were paid under the table. This does not preclude you from applying for unemployment, however. Filey your claim and an investigation will start.
Next time, don't be a fool and next time get paid legally. Also, take current employer to small claims court.
But then she would have to pay income tax on her earnings. And she may not even be legal to work.
As I said before, there are several reasons people work off the books. People on social security, disability and food stamps/other government assistance frequently prefer being paid under the table. Not right, but unfortunately they do.

Just because you haven't been being paid on the books doesn't mean you cannot file for unemployment. Yes, you may owe some income taxes but you can set up a payment plan for that. Your employers will owe a lot more than you, as they will be fined heavily.
