Kid has the flu. Not a cold. Not last day of a virus and is gone but can’t go to school. The au pair should not be asked to do anything more than bring a tray and then run and wash hands for 30 seconds. You are exposing your au pair to something no one wants to get. That is rude af. And then to be pissed that the au pair was not sitting in the room?? Cray.

Also kid is 11. Not three. When 6 year old had the flu, we checked on her, gave her meds, made her drink every 15 min using an Alexa timer, but as parents stayed away so that she could rest, watch videos and recover and so we did not get sick. Au pair was fine.

We had a sick 7 y/o and our ap sat next to the bed reading as he lay there trying to sleep. Cute at first, but a little distracting to our child so we explained it is ok to sit in family room and check every 30 minutes on him.
