You are clearly not a nanny. I have a few hours of unpaid “free time” during the day? Can I have a glass of wine with lunch? Commit to another family during that time? What about summers and holidays? Additionally, I use my sick/personal time for appointments and can make a quick drop off if needed during my shift. I’m absolutely not going to have a large portion of my day go unpaid.

Split shifts are globally unpopular and rarely done in any job, any profession.

Why are you taking it so personally? You’re not a nanny or an employer of a nanny.

Dp. Well if the schedule was fine for many and the pay was good, OP wouldn’t be on here posting. Since you aren’t spoiled and think the schedule is fine, contact OP for a job.

Some aunts are still young.
My mom was 17 when her youngest sister was born. My mom was 26 when she had me, so my aunt is only 9 years old than me (I'm 44, she is 53.)

My oldest child is 20, theoretically i could be a grandma in the next few years. My aunt would be in her mid 50s and perfectly capable of caring for a child for a couple weeks. And yes, even with SN. In fact her job is related to special needs kids.

There isn't a lot she can do between 9 and 12:30. She would spend most of it commuting to and from wherever she wanted to go. And those are unpaid hours.

Three kids under 4 with 2 with SN is a lot. I would expect her to bring all 3 kids into the bathroom. As long as the other two are in a safe, secure space, then that is fine. I also am not concerned about rinsing vs wipes. Much of the world rinses and it works just fine.

She isn't great but honestly for what you need and are paying, letting her go is only going to get you someone else of similar quality. She is cheaper because she can bring her own child.

OP, are you paying during school hours? If she is being paid from 7am-4:30pm but only required to actually work for some of those hours then $20 is actually a great rate. If you are only offering 6 hours a day split into two chunks then $20 is a pittance and honestly you should be close to $30-$35 range. For comparison, I make $22 working full time on a normal schedule with NT twin preschoolers.

You need a nanny who specializes in special needs. And absolutely do not bring her children into the mix! Yes, the nanny will be much more expensive but will know how to handle older diaper-dependent children and follow instructions (at the very least).
