No. Assembling furniture or painting a room is NOT part of an Au Pair's job.

She is paid peanuts to do basic chores related to the children.
You can ask your husband to assemble furniture, do it yourself or pay someone to do it. Same thing for painting a room.

An Au Pair is not a DIY man !

None of these tasks are supposed to be done by an Au Pair.
Except maybe walking the dog as a family chore.


Some of the tasks above are totally ok for an Au pair to do.
I know a HF who made the AP drive cross country with one of their car during the move. I personally think it was too much but it is ok because she was driving with one kid while the HF was driving with the other kids.
