I would never consider going back to nannying. Working in someone else's home is awkward. It was absolutely helpful to have experience with kids-managing behaviors, working with children with special needs, homework help, etc. when I entered the classroom. I understand that some people can't handle the stress of the classroom, but a nanny job offers no stability, very rarely offers any benefits, no pension, no coworkers to collaborate with...I can't imagine going back to sitting in someone's house, watching the clock and wondering when they'd finally get home.

They agreed to do that and pay hourly, but said it might not always come to 8 hours a day once the kids are back in school. That's fine, I guess, since I may find a new job by then anyway.

I am a teacher. No one is going to give you extra points in an interview for being a nanny.
