Then after that, I would supply them w/my references.
Because providing them before meeting people face to face means you likely are giving them out prematurely to complete strangers.
I live in SoCal and for nighttime sitting, if the child(ren) will be asleep the majority of the time, I may charge $15/HR.
It irrelevant what the children are doing.so if a family needs you 8 pm - 12 pm you’ll charge 15? What if the same family needs you in the morning on the weekend? Or from 2-6 pm? You’ll charge more? Makes no sense.
Date night babysitting usually runs past a child’s bedtime.
So $15/HR is a decent rate imo.
Usually you won’t need to prepare meals, give baths + do any driving children so commanding less pay makes sense.

I think general babysitting is $20 per hour, especially for a college-educated sitter. I also just retired from teaching and do neighborhood babysitting here in the DC suburbs and i charge $20 (up to 2 kids, then $25 for 3-4 kids.) I have no shortage of clients, but then, I am a retired teacher, infant/children CPR, first aid, etc.
Op here. I’m a teacher. I am college educated have infant/ child/ and adult CPR and first aid I also have nannying experience. So I’m guessing no on here is really paying their sitters $20/h![]()

It could be possible they’re not calling my references. I have no idea. I work full time so that’s why I really don’t care much that they turn me down but i would like to babysit here and there to pay off student loans faster.
Do not lower your rate, especially in LA! Go to one of the agencies and you’ll probably be able to ask for $25. Avoid sittercity and care, they are junk. Go to the help company, Westside or educated nannies and you can ask for even more than $20. I’m make $30/hr here in LA.
Nannies make more than babysitters.
