Guaranteed it will bite you in the ass - a month will come where you work 40 hours every day for the month and then have a Monday off for a holiday and they still want Saturday for free. The side deal will quickly become the new normal. You have two choices keep it and reap the benefits knowing st some point you will lose out or put it in writing and know the gravy train might end.

Nanny again- Any hours I work over 40 have always been and always be paid. I don’t get OT but I’m paid for every hour I work. My nanny family isn’t out to screw me over.
I guess you’re not paying taxes and neither I are your employers... awesome.
Anonymous wrote:Thanks for explaining that. I guess the perk of being a nanny is relaxing when the baby is asleep. I guess I am not use sleeping on the job or surfing the net for more than 10-15 minutes.

They think, we’ll we are paying her she should be working but yet they have no problem collecting their check for a holiday. Most ppl have no idea how to be a boss and this is just an example of that. It’s ridiculous how clueless and entitled some ppl can be.
What is wrong with getting our monies worth. Most of us at our job don't have the luxaary to take breaks when the child is sleeping or napping!
Then get a new job if that is the luxury you want. Every job has perks, that is one of them for nannies.
Some ppl just aren’t made to be a boss and it sounds like you are one of those ppl.

I have MLK Day off paid per contract. We all agreed to this. They seemed to understand how holidays, guaranteed hours and PTO worked. These people are graduates of top universities with impressive degrees and respectable careers. How could they not?
They wanted me to work Sunday for about 6 hours and I agreed. Well, it seems like they think this is how holidays work. I’m off on the holiday with pay but just make up the day on a weekend. When I showed them our contract they seemed genuinely confused and said, “oh, we didn’t think of it like that....”
You didn’t think paid vacation/holidays meant what they’ve meant for decades and decades for most working people including you? Do you think they’re really that clueless or do you think they think I’m stupid enough to be manipulated into working a Sunday to cover my paid holiday?
I’ll work a Sunday but that’s all OT pay.
You won't be getting Over Time btw. Call it a hunch. Let us know though.
