Today when they cancelled for this week, but assured they need me next week, I brought up knowing of someone who is interested in the position. They are pretty chill to work for but the cheapness is annoying. The girl who is interested is ok with the pay and usually accepts less than what I am making bringing my child, though I advised her to up her rate to AT LEAST $12 because she only wanted $10! Her mom was an in home daycare provider so I think she is confused with rates of a nanny vs in home. We are in NorCal where people are very cheap with childcare also. I still need the money but at this point its not super worth it for me. MB was happy about getting her contact info.
OP here again, and I didn't tell MB I want to leave now, but rather a vague "when I have to leave."
They need child care and you need to give them a final date so they can plan. You not giving them a date causes them child care issues. You sound high maintenance.
OP here, they decide the date not meI let them know whatever works best for them I can go with.
I just might want to leave earlier and this girl is available whenever, which means no issues for them
The girl may want to take another job/flake out. If you want to leave earlier fine but give them notice. To leave them hanging is crummy.

$12 an hour is not cheap for child care when you are bringing your child. Why don't you pay for child care for your child and how much are you willing to pay? Then, they have to pay for food and other stuff for your kid. And, wear and tear on the house. It doesn't sound like this was ever a permanent job and just mutually convenient. You are pregnant with a kid. They can get someone else cheaper without a child so their kid gets full attention. Who would you choose if both care providers are fine? You are an on-call babysitter from the sounds of it and if you need the money, find another job but it may be hard to do that pregnant with a young child. You offered up the substitute and they probably though you were no longer interested.

No one cares what you think is reasonable. Especially when that wasn’t part of the issue.
It is part of the issue as OP brought it up.
