Yes, all this criticism is a joke.

DC makes millions off of its traffic cameras because many many many people drive 62 in a 50. It is totally reasonable to go that fast in the flow of traffic. On NY ave, on 295, on E st.

(btw I don't begrudge DC's decisions on cameras; I see tickets as a form of tax which I willingly pay. Helps give some people in DC healthcare.)

And there’s no reason to go that fast. I go on K frequently, and even though I’m doing the speed limit (35), everyone else whizzes by me. I don’t care, I’m not getting a ticket, nor am I going to be reckless.

If there’s constant traffic that is ALL going over the speed limit (like the skyway around Chicago), it’s different, and someone going 10-15 lower than everyone else creates a hazard, so you can feasibly get a ticket while not exceeding the speed limit in that case. But in that case, an officer writes the ticket, and the camera wouldn’t send to everyone.

No, speeding camera tickets do not put points on your license - they would have to prove it was you physically driving to do that. Just pay the fine and nothing will happen.

I speak from all too much experience w/ speeding camera tickets!

Its doable if you make a conscious decision but if youre driving at what feels like a natural speed for a 4 lane road youre gonna get a ticket. Thats not reckless driving.

I’m a nanny, not the MB who also chimed in. IP is defensive and childish in her comments. Her driving does impact others, period. Additionally, the question has no relation to nannying, so if she doesn’t want a response based on nannying, she should learn to research the topic herself.

I’m ananny, and I’m equally confused about why it’s okay to be reckless without children in the car.
