That's harsh but it doesn't sound like this is a language issue. It's a commitment issue.

+1. You should not be encouraging punctuality. You should EXPECT punctuality.

He would not do well in our household -- we are all up at 6am (1 parent and DD are actually up at 4:20 3 mornings/week for practice), so I would have zero patience with this.

I do think, sadly, that it's rematch time. Ap cannot be an AP if he can't get himself up to start his day at his assigned time (and 8:15 is a very late start time for most APs with school-aged kids!!).

I guess it serves him right if his new family makes him work a evening heavy schedule like 3pm-10pm every weeknight and Saturday afternoon. No wake up issues anymore...

What time does he go to sleep? Sounds like he needs to be asleep by 9 or 10. My APs had a start-time of 6:30 since I had to be out of the house by 6:45. I made this very clear since i know Brazilians are not especially early -risers. Neither girl came from a wealthy family and were used to getting up early for school, chores. work, so it worked. But boy did emphasize this during the interview period.

I guess by re-matching he will have learned his lesson for the new family??
