$17.5 is ok if it's 30+ hours a week, mix of house stuff, kid stuff, downtime.
$20 if it is 20-30 hours
$22-25 if less than 15 hours a week.

otherwise, why would I even drive to your house?

And 17.50 untaxed. If it was taxed yes it’s low. But literally all of the pay will be right into this persons pocket.

Plus, she's not doing both at the same time. Housekeeping in the morning and nanny in the afternoon.

That's not how it typically works out in reality.

It is when you arrive at 1pm via security sensor door and leave before 3 to pick up the kids. Not rocket science ppl. You either want to help the family or you don’t. So many scammers on here.

Anonymous wrote:That's $17.50 an hour untaxed at 40 hours. Not a low rate. Up to you, OP, but I agree that you need to define your duties clearly so there's no job creep, and set on a max number of hours you're willing to work.

If you're not interested in housekeeping, pass on the job. You will hate it and resent it, and I can guarantee they will have plenty of people willing to take this gig.

Ask if they also want you to cook/shop, etc. Set a max hours, then if you want, negotiate OT. In other words, DEFINE your job, what you will do and won't do.

I find that time goes fast when housekeeping. You can listen to a book or music and do your job.

It's a full-time salary for potentially part-time work (30 hours).

I think this is a great job for the right person (someone who is comfortable being paid under the table, and comfortable being a housekeeper/babysitter.)

If this seems like a great opportunity for you OP then go for it. If you like the family and job it could well be a very long-term kind of position for you.

I would suggest that you set this up for 30 hours per week fixed, and then negotiate what your hourly rate will be for weeks when they need you more. Try to get some boundaries in place to ensure that if you do end up working a 40+ hour week you get compensated. That could significantly change how this feels to you in the long-run.

Good luck OP. I hope this works out well for all of you!

Not if you're not doing them simultaneously. This family is trying to create a full time job when they only need part time child care. If she's doing 15-20 hours after school care (so, older children), then that leaves 15-20 hours for housekeeping. It is one position, but it doesn't sound like anyone is asking her to meal prep while she also changes diapers and watches children play.

Yes, illegals will jump at your generous offer. I feel sorry for your children.
