Rent isn't bad in the valley and it was cheaper to buy so I'm a homeowner. If you're picky and need to be hip in west La or in Santa Monica then I guess you can rent!

When was the last time you actually looked at rental prices???
I’m in the valley as well and pay $1195 for a single. And I live in a semi good part of the valley in porter ranch, right down the street from the university. When I was looking at apartments in Van Nuys they were so horrible but slightly cheaper singles.

I’m in the valley too but close to studio city/Sherman oaks south side of Ventura. I work in BH so I can jump on the 405 pretty easy or take canyon roads when needed. I pay 1650 for my 1 bed, but it has parking and AC (it’s actually 2 parking spots but I’m single so the other sits free). I also have a huge porch, and amazing kitchen with dishwasher (woohoo). Nice walkable area.

My single is soooo small! Tiny kitchen!! It’s terrible. But it’s all I can afford. I have 1 parking spot which is all I need. There is a room with about 10 washers and dryers which is nice but obviously not as good as having it in your apartment. The area can get trafficky since I live right in front of Granda Hills charter. I work in woodlands hills and it takes me about 25 mins to get to work which isn’t bad. I used to work in Glendale before and my commute was 1+ hour bc of traffic

I met DB at a networking event for my husband's work.
He mentioned his wife was 8 months pregnant with twins and I said i was a nanny of multiples for 10 years and my current position was ending in a month. 3 years later it's worked out perfectly.

Dc has more expensive housing costs than LA.

I am at $27 an hour for one child and know several nannies who start at $30. All agency placements. We are on the west side of Los Angeles. Yes, these jobs exist.

I'm a nanny and make $30/hr for 2 kids plus bonuses, insurance, paid vacation, etc. I work for a very rich family though that outsources everything. I worked one other nanny job for a regular middle class family and was paid $20/hr for 2 kids with paid vacation and a bonus here and there, but no insurance stipend. The $30+/hr jobs are definitely out there but they're very hard to come across. I was introduced to my current family through a friend of a friend of my former boss...

We pay 35/hr for 4 kids. She’s been with us for 7 years and we aren’t exactly “desirable”—inconsistent schedules and kids close in age(2 being twin toddlers).
