I think your nanny is turning out to be unreliable and you would do well to look again. You'll find someone great; be honest in the interview about what didn't work with the old nanny and you'll be able to weed out the wrong people.

It has nothing to do with "living close to the edge" or even needing the money - it is about respect. If you accept late payment, PP, your employers have no respect for you. You honor your contract.

Late payments are NOT acceptable. When you work for companies etc they hardly ever pay late. So why should nannies have to be ok with late payments?

Op here. We planned on giving her cash at the end of the week, and realized the day of we forgot to get her the money. She wasn’t happy.

And you didn’t immediately run to the ATM or write a check, why?

She can wait.

No one should ever wait to be paid. Clearly you have never owned or run a company, PP. I went into labor two weeks early and was writing checks to my employees during contractions. I was not one minute late in paying my employees.

You screwed up big time, OP. Never do that again.

I’ve known employers to have checks ready and waiting for a month before a due date, that way there’s no last minute rush. Basic pay on time and overtime after you get out of the hospital is more than understandable

Always pay on time. The sick thing could have been a fluke but since you are flaky with pay, she is looking for other work. I agree, move on and find a daycare which will be more affordable.

You ALWAYS pay on time. That is inexcusable, OP. Never, ever do that again.

Your nanny is looking for another job, btw.

You sound like a daycare mother.

I think your Nanny is being passive/aggressive since she may be holding a grudge against you for not being paid in full.

I quite frankly, think she wanted to get fired by you & now is just ecstatic that you did so.

Perhaps realistically you + your hubby may not have the funds to pay for a Nanny.
If that is the case, you might either consider a good daycare or a SAHM who would be willing to make a little spare $$ watching one more child. - Good luck.

I guarantee you your nanny is looking for another job. You can never ever be one minute late with payment. It is unacceptable. You should have turned around and gone to the nearest ATM.

Daycare. You sound like you would do better in daycare.
