My household income is often more than my employers because I've worked for a lot of single moms. I would see it as a plus. There are lots of nannies who are not necessarily happy with their jobs. They do it because it's easy money.

I am so confused by this thread. You hire the most qualified candidate period. Anyone can walk away from a job for any reason. Why would you feel better hiring someone who you feel “needs” a job...To feel better as an employer bc you make more and can look down on them? I’m a very qualified and educated nanny who technically doesn’t have to work but I work bc I like to shop. I own my own home with my husband who pays for the majority of our lifestyle. I am very picky about the jobs I take and will not work for a low wage. I am a responsible adult so when I commit to a job I expect to be there for the length of my contract. If this applicant is qualified and responsible I really don’t see the issue.

I am a nanny (am told I am a good one) and I don't need the money. I started out as a nanny out of college and then worked in creative field for 25 years and retired - I didn't;t want to sit home all day so I went back to being a nanny and I love it. Honestly I have never been happier. I have never once been late in five years as a nanny and only called in sick with the stomach bug the kids gave me.

Your proposed schedule however would need work for me personally. If it does for this nanny - grab her!
