But it's different, and not acceptable when a nanny does it (usually, thanks PP for being understanding!). Nanny here, and I never do that. Dishes may not be finished when the parents walk in, but I can guarantee they are before I walk out! I chase the kids just as much or more than the parents do (since there's only one of me!), but I seem to care more about cleaning up as I go.

My employers leave a mess for me every morning, even when someone might be coming over... Add in a kid home from school and feeling better?

Same thing happens to me. Play room is A MESS. Toys everywhere, snacks and plates and cups everywhere. Family room has plates from dinner and cups. Crumbs of food everywhere. Kitchen is a huge mess too! Dishwater full of dirty dishes, sink full of dirty dishes and stove full of dirty pots and pans. What pisses me of the most is THEY NEVER BATHE THE OLDER BOY!!! if I shower him on Thursday he never gets a bath until Monday when I’m there. I know he’s a kid but cmon at least give him a bath on Sunday. They are not slobs and are pretty clean. However they know that i come in Monday’s and know I’ll pick up. It’s started to become to much to handle so I asked them if they could at least bathe him on the weekend. There’s also a younger infant brother and it’s hard to have the older boy with the baby.

I am dreading tomorrow morning, too. They are such slobs over the weekend. My charge’s clothes and toys will be all over the house and I won’t be able to find anything I need. I have to get groceries before I come to work. I love my charge but I hate Monday mornings.

It isn't normal or healthy, PP. Talk to your employers. No one should dread work like this.

We are routine sticklers though and do the same thing on weekends as weekdays with lunch, snacks, clothes and bath so it’s not a dramatic change for dd.

MB here. I used to pick up everything, too.

I stopped. I've told our nanny it doesn't all have to be put to rights on Monday (we have a housekeeper who helps pick up, too), but I'm not going to do it.

Flame away.

No need to flame you, PP. Your child is learning from you. If you are certain that he/she can survive and thrive without regard for personal property or organization-okay.

Exactly.

OP here. My employers are actually great parents. They dedicate most of their weekend to their child and always have some fun outing for her. They are just chaotic by nature. They have a housekeeper three times a week who takes care of the house and their laundry. I actually enjoy doing my charge's laundry and do think it is my job -- it is just the inside-out clothing all bunched together and on the floor... and all over the house. And the general chaos of everything. I honestly don't even know how they can made such a mess of her drawers and closet in three days.

I really appreciate the responses. I think I have to accept both them for who they are - good and bad - and that Monday mornings are always going to be tough.

Thanks, Everyone!
