The hair brushing would annoy me too but there is so much more than goes into being a parent than a Nanny that you are just so exhausted thinking about it all and some things you just let slide.
When I was a Nanny, by the time the kids wee 5 they could ride bikes, tie shoe laces, read etc.....My now 5yo can read but has no clue how to tie laces so I just buy velcro and cant ride a bike, but loves her scooter.
Your priorities are different from a parents priorities.
Yes you look after kids for many hours during the week and we appreciate it, but we work many hours at work and then have our kids in the evening and on the weekend. Not complaining about it, its just a fact of life. We don't get the down time to regroup that you get, so again, thats why we let stuff slide.
Having worked 24/7, I didn’t get time to regroup, and I was in charge of the finances and house as well as the kids. Parents make choices, but they have to live with them. Sorry, but no, I don’t like the “poor me” routine, either own your choices or make other choices.
