Has it ever been verified that she was legally paid on the books?

I'd like to know.

Why? She was an American citizen. In any event, how she was paid or how much doesn't lead to murder, does it?

Reread my question and check your comprehension.

Different poster, but I really don't see how the question is relevant either. What would be your reaction if she was legally paid on the books? What would it be if she were paid in cash with no taxes withheld? It seems irrelevant to the topic at hand, which is murder of the children.

Many sahms need help to get kids home for nap while somebody else had activities, or just to get everyone to everything on time. It sounds like that’s what happened there, since mom was out with the older daughter.

As long as you legally compensate your qualified helper, it's totally fine.

Yes, clearly the natural outcome of a SAH mother of three hiring childcare is murder. She really should have predicted this.

That is what you are saying. You get that, right?

You are truly an ugly, vile person, PP.

Krim didn't work, didn't need to, and should have taken care of her kids herself.

My takeaways from this shocking tragedy are 1) multiple references required and 2) don’t turn a blind eye to any unusual behavior. But in no way am I implying that this was in any way the parents’ fault. Tragedy can strike even the most careful and 20/20 hindsight.

As an aside, I’m a SAHM and live in the same neighborhood as the Krims. This area is teeming with young families and mothers are very proactive to report abuse by caregivers they witness. If this nanny had been exhibiting any alarming behavior with her charges in public, someone would have said something and tried to find the parents. So my guess is she was not and was exhibiting only subtle changes that only people close to her such as her employers could pick up on.

Or she showed no signs. Many people who attempt suicide don’t show any signs. I would think this might be comparable.

I'm horrified to say... probably off the street, without a single reference or criminal background check. I also fear they were paying her pathetically low wages OFF the BOOKS with zero benefits.

In fact, all babysitter abuse cases never report if it was a legal worker paid on the books and had references.

Actually, it does. Articles online say she was a naturalized citizen, paid $18/hour, the Krims got a wonderful reference, and the nanny’s sister was also a nanny, for a girl who was in the same class as the Krim daughter which is how they were first introduced.

Which article? Link, please.

15.03 here. Precisely. Legal status and pay don’t matter. Parents do horrible things too. When looking for a caregiver, you have to trust references, a background check and your gut.
