Is Westside Nannies still one of the best agencies? Any others? Thank you!

The Help Agency in Brentwood is great.

Help company is actually terrible, rude and rarely return phone calls. Elizabeth rose is also rude but at least they call you back! I recommend westside and educated nannies.

Jeez, I have early childhood education under my belt and I wish I could make that much! Lol

Sounds like you may have to lower your standards a bit, though, seriously. Making $19-$20 an hour doesn’t sound too shabby.

OP, our current nanny makes $25/hour for our two kids. She's been with us for almost four years, so she's gotten raises over the years to get to $25. She doesn't have a college education, but had lots of nanny experience.
We are moving and she is also having a hard time finding another job at that rate. Perhaps COL increases would mean she'd start off making more than she did with us, but I think the nature of nanny jobs is that you often take a step back every time you start with a new family.

OP here, no I am not a troll. I started my current job at $22/hr and my nanny family gave me a $1 raise each year for 3 years. They're not a high profile family, but they're fairly wealthy so maybe I just got lucky. Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses! I never thought to look into a nanny share!

Is this what your girlfriends are telling you? Is actually on the low end.

I've been with them for 3 years and currently make $25/hr for one child with the standard 2 weeks vacation and fed holidays. I have about 10 years experience, 6 years as an aupair and 4 years nannying. Is my hourly rate too high? Every job I interview for the rate is around $18 for one child and $19/$20 for two children. I found a few in the $25.00 and up range but the parents were looking for nannies with some sort of formal education. Would signing up for a nanny agency help? I'm in the NOVA suburbs, but willing to travel so I don't think my location is an issue. Any advice nannies/parents? Thanks in advance!

How were you an AP for 6 years? APs in the US may work 2 years.

OP here. Different host country.

So no real way to verify at least 4 years as AP. Also, expectations of AP and nanny are completely different.

Exactly. Op is a troll who can't afford a nanny.

Cheap families get what they pay for. Excellent childcare is never a bargain. Never.

I am having the same problems. I have been looking since last year and I am having a hard time finding a job too. Many jobs are out there but the families expect you to work for next to nothing. These people say how much they love their children and so particular in selecting the perfect childcare provider yet they want you to care for their children for nothing. As if you don't have to live, eat, drink, needs a shelter and everything else like them.
