It sounds like you just want to do this part time, though? Or you want to do it instead of nannying?

If you call yourself a "cook" rather than a "chef," I don't think people will expect the same credentials.

I would talk to your nanny family, though. Maybe they know some people who might want to hire you at least on an occasional basis, and if your food is good, and you're otherwise prompt, keep the house neat, remember preferences, etc., before long you'll have a good set of clients and references. Then you can advertise yourself.
