I hope she finds a new gig.

If the kids hurt someone while driving and don’t have a license, isn’t that a criminal issue? They are green card holders, not citizens so if they commit a crime, deportation is a likely consequence, isn’t it?
And whatever “insurance” they have on the car would not be valid for an unlicensed driver, correct?
I used to have a lot of compassion for them since they are new here but that is quickly evaporating because I have tried so many times to tell them this is a big deal and why and also given her PAID TIME OFF to try and get this sorted and they just kinda don’t care.
And if it happens on federal land - BW Parkway, GW Parkway, and similar, it becomes a federal criminal issue.
I’d be concerned about hiring someone to care for my child when the person shows little respect for laws, rules, and regulations. And I definitely wouldn’t be lending her money - that makes you complicit in her malfeasance.

She is not illegal and has a green card.
Then why would are you worried about deportation?

How will you feel if one of them gets into an accident and KILLS someone?
Would you really be able to look their victim's family member in the eye and justify your choice to enable this criminal behavior?
How am I enabling? I’ve done everything I can to try and change this situation, including rearranging my work schedule and giving her paid time off to go to the dmv with her kids. These are not my children or my employees.
You gave her the money to fix up the car so her kids could continue to illegally drive it!
