Really? Unless the nanny died a couple of months later, this is real money, and on the hook for a long time.

Do what it is financially possible to do and make sure you make it possible for your children and nanny to get together from time to time after her departure. That means a lot more than money.

That's a great idea. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to manage a month's salary for our nanny of four years (we're moving). This idea might be easier than a lump sum.
