Our nanny asks for $5/hour when they are asleep and her normal rate during normal time. Apparently, she should ask for more. We will have to remember this next time and pay more.

When I do weekends, I don't ask for overtime. However, I ask for my regular rate for all waking hours, and quarter to half rate for sleeping hours (the longer kids sleep, the lower the rate). If I can't get 5 hours continuous sleep, I get paid my hourly rate for all 24 hours.

That's pretty low for 24 hrs. You're lucky!

I am lucky in many ways to have this wonderful nanny.

I'd give her a thank you note or email on a regular basis. Mention something specific you appreciate.

Honestly, I do it all the time. Our nanny is the best!
