This is a life skill that would serve anyone well. It's healthy for your brain to work at translating, code-switching, etc. If my job paid for me to take a Spanish class, I'd jump on that.

I don't think OP said she'd be paid to take Spanish classes. Also, that wasn't the agreement when she was hired. There are lots of life skills that are healthy. That doesn't mean MB gets to demand you do them when it wasn't contracted for beforehand.

Okay, Nanny, now work on your English and reasoning skills.

Typical American. I'll go on speaking 5 languages while you refuse to learn Spanish. Why don't Americans speak Spanish anyway??

Answer:
Because we live in AMERICA.

And no, I do not like Trump.

At. All.

Well since you live in America you should know that there is no official language here (unlike other countries that have two or even one) and that a huge percent of the population speaks Spanish so you are actually hurting yourself not learning. But you don't seem that smart anyway.

Anonymous wrote:OMG you people suggesting she take classes are the worst. The MB didn't hire her to teach Spanish and isn't compensating her for that. Of course she COULD take Spanish classes, but she could take any number of classes and teach her charge. That's not the point. It's time out of her personal day to learn something when that wasn't agreed beforehand and she isn't being compensated for it.

Is it not possible for you to take some spanish classes in your free time and then use that basic knowledge to teach the baby? I mean shes a little kid for Pete's sake!

+1. But it's mostly because I don't have time to learn another language. I know the basic conversationals of French & Spanish. There isn't a need for me to be fluent.

OP here. Of course I do. But she already requires me to take the kiddos on an outing EVERY day, I do all kid laundry & grocery shopping, meal prep and cooking. AND I also take care of a second charge, an infant, on top of that. I feel she's asking too much. It is not my job to teach her daughter Spanish, especially with all the other duties I have.

High maintenance parents need to go! You can do better. Start looking.
