Someone has to get the first hi. It's my kids. It's not like I talk to my kids for 5 minutes before saying hi to the nanny. FWIW, I think I do actually say "hi everyone, how was your day?" It's just clear that I'm talking to my DD mostly when I say it.

to the poster who waits for the father to put the kids to bed before leaving-you're enabling that behavior by hanging around. i would start leaving and then follow up by sending a text with the info/update or whatever about the kids. if he asks why the change, tell him that you have things to do when off the clock and hope they enjoy the bedtime routine as a family.
