Individual insurance for me, a self- employed nanny, was $675 a month before Obamacare. At least I am in a pool now. The only insurance we used to be able to get is catastrophic health care insurance which paid for only catastrophic illnesses/accidents and had a cap that was quite low considering the cost of a true catastrophic accident or illness.

I am still with Obamacare - insured through Aetna. Good insurance, $423 a month

My insurance increased a good bit every year so even without Obama care, I would be paying in the 300s now. Not saying I can afford it but I need it so I make sacrifices. I don't have emergency or retirement savings, which sucks. But I'm in school and I hope I can catch up once I'm done and working in my chosen field.

That's what health insurance that covers anything other than catastrophic care has cost since the early 2000s. People who get it through their employers only pay half or less; mine was still over $200/month, just for my portion, when I was working for a large company from 2001-2007.

I'm definitely worried. I'm insured with Kaiser and my premium is pretty high at ~395, but I'm on a copayment plan and in a finanial assistance program where I don't pay for my copayment and medications.

I regularly need to see my Dr's because of a autoimmune disease and several other pre-existing conditions, so losing health insurance because I can't afford it would be devastating.

I hope everything works out in the end.

Let's hope it passes. Thanks to Obamacare I'm paying the cost of a second car payment every month for a plan with deductibles so high I will never even be able to use it. Complete waste of money, but if I don't pay, I'll face a large fine and, obviously, I'll have no health insurance.

Obamacare only ever helped the poor. The middle class like me suffered in order for Obama to be able to do that. In other words, Obamacare essentially took away health care from the middle class (since I can't even use my expensive plan), and gave it all to the poor. Fair?

No.

Go Trump

PS, if anyone here has actually read the bill they'd know:
"Q: Will the AHCA as amended do away with protections for those with pre-existing conditions?

A: The AHCA as amended by the MacArthur amendment explicitly maintains protections for pre-existing conditions. Guaranteed issue of coverage, guaranteed renewability of coverage, or the prohibition on insurance companies denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions are all maintained. The AHCA as amended specifically clarifies that its provisions cannot be construed as allowing insurers to limit coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. All of these protections will remain the law. "

Those with 10k deductibles; where so you live? What plan did you get? I make 50k, I got the gold plan I pay $400 A month. My deductible was 2k

Hahahahahahahaha! It allows states to waive the provision that says people with pre-existing conditions must be charged the same as others in their age group. So, they can't deny coverage, but they could charge you 10K a month for it, which, since I make half that in a year, is the same as denying me coverage.

I can't imagine this awful bill will pass the Senate without major revisions. The AMA and AARP are both vehemently against it. Only really stupid people who haven't got a clue how much this could hurt themselves are cheering it on.

But yes, I am very worried about it as well. I have my healthcare insurance thru an exchange and I've been very happy with it. No subsides either as I earn too much as a nanny but I got a good plan that I pay for myself through Obamacare.
