If it was just the baby, yes. But not the baby plus preschooler. A preschooler demands a different type of attention and activity , and I wouldn't want to have my baby's schedule centered around your older kid.

We used.to have a nanny with a DS a month older than our DD. It worked out well until they were about 3.5 and it was too much for the nanny because she wanted to enroll her kid in a different part time preschool.

People will hire you, but don't expect top pay.

This is a good idea.
Or even just other "occasional" sitting. I was a SAHM that sometimes needed sitting--like when my older child had a field trip I wanted to chaperone, so I needed someone to watch my younger child. Or If I had a doctor/dentist appointment and couldn't bring my kids along.
