I just started working as a babysitter. On my second day of working the mom told me she need to take my charge to see the doctor. I said "is he going to get his shot?" She replied and told me that her son never and WILL never gets his immunization!

After reading all your post I am not sure to continue working with them.

No.

I can't work for people who I don't respect or find reasonable.

I would not. Agree with all the PPs who would not and also with the ones noting that it correlates with lack of ability to reason and employ logic, or entitlement/selfishness issues, or other types of borderline craziness. And I feel very angry about the risk this trend brings to the immune compromised population.

Someone in our preschool class has whooping cough. But I'm in LA, land of the celebrities and idiot parents so it's not surprising. Selfish.

For me, it's one thing in a long list. I don't ask at interviews, and as I rarely work infants (never under 6 months), I've never been asked.

On a separate note, I have a poa for my current charges. I requested the exemption forms, signed and had them notarized, filed them with school and doctor, all per my DB's instructions while he was out - of - state. Oh, and scheduled medical/dental, took kids, enrolled and withdrew, etc.

Vaccine or no vaccine is one small thing in a very long list of pros and cons about family.

Never in a million years.

I am not pro/anti-anything so I am not riding on anyone's bandwagon.

But after seeing the measles, whooping cough, etc. return after being dormant so many years, it is very obvious that (duh!!) vaccines are needed to ward off all the stuff our ancestors had to suffer from.

And any family who cannot see this is obviously missing a few brain cells at best.

And I prefer to work w/common sense vs. stupid.
